The Aragorn variety of green pea is much more commonly grown than the Columbia variety. The Columbia variety was popular in the 1980s but demand has shifted towards Aragorn, as has planting by farmers. The Aragorn variety is known for its smooth seed-coat, very dark green color, resistance to bleaching and consistent quality.
In the US the product is grown in Pacific Northwest, Montana and North Dakota, but as of early April 2020, supply is limited.
