【Hongcheon】The first shipment of leeks produced by local farmers in Hongcheon has begun. According to the Hongcheon Agricultural Technology Center on the 14th, 33 farms are currently cultivating leeks with a scale of 13.7 hectares, aiming for an output of 27 tons this year. The leeks shipped this time are being traded at the Garakdong Agricultural Products Wholesale Market at 3,000 won per 50 grams, forming the highest price level following last year, thereby receiving recognition for their quality. Hongcheon leeks are cultivated in an environment with abundant sunlight and significant day-night temperature differences, resulting in a strong aroma and vivid color. The county has installed double greenhouses, shading facilities, and provided shelling and binding machines to strengthen the competitiveness of leek farms. Yoon Sun-hwa, Director of the Hongcheon Agricultural Technology Center, said, "We will nurture leeks as a regional specialty crop to increase farmers' income." Reporter Shin Harim
