Iran marks an increase in honey production by 24% this year reaching 112 KMT compared to last year's 90 KMT.
Favorable weather conditions and the abundance of wildflowers in the mountains allowed bees to produce more quantities.
Iran exports around 8,000 MT annually and there's a serious surplus of production that goes unconsumed. Due to that, a considerable amount of honey is being sold at a much lower price than the market value. The surplus is estimated at between 15-20 KMT and the consumption per capita per year is close to 600 gr.
