Last December 2019, the Department of Agriculture's price monitoring system showed that the Philippine chili pepper price in Metro Manila was at 600 PHP per kilogram. The reason for the price hike was the shortage of supply due to recent typhoons. The farmers are expecting the prices to continue to increase even this year 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, the prices range from 500-700 PHP.
