Turkish fish exports on hold due to virus outbreak

Turkish fish exporters report difficulties in delivering their red shrimp and octopus orders to their customers in Italy, Spain, and Greece due to the regulations and border closures.

Fish products are an important export item for Turkish companies as they have exported 1 billion USD worth of fish products (198kmt) to 84 countries in 2019. These figures represented an 11% improvement (+7% in kmt) over the previous year's numbers. The Black Sea salmon has especially garnered a lot of interest in export destinations in 2019.
