Morocco aiming to stop fraud and price irregularities on agrofood products

Despite the announcement of the fight against illegal practices during this period of the public health emergency, a number of traders continue to defraud and speculate on certain products. Thus, rigorous control gradually regulates the markets.
In terms of prices, the Interministerial Commission pointed remarkable results on the price stability of agricultural and agrifood products.
Vegetable prices, for example, have dropped between 5% and 15% compared to the previous week.
Most of the infractions concerned wholesale and retail businesses as well as storage depots. Several traders have been punished following a series of reported infractions. 596 of them concerning price and product quality irregularities, in addition, 40 traders did not meet hygiene standards. This was accompanied by the seizure of 41 tonnes of spoiled products stored or offered for sale.
