The suspension of import duties on pulses expected to improve stocks for Ramadan

Despite the upheavals caused by the spread of COVID-19 in all sectors, Morocco is trying to ensure the supply of agricultural and food products, and most importantly for pulses during the upcoming month Ramadan. Therefore, the suspension of import duties on pulses is aimed to ensure a regular and sufficient supply of these pulses on the domestic market at reasonable prices.
For the chickpea imported often from India and Spain which remains a product widely consumed during the holy month of Ramadan, the suspension should reduce the cost price for imports to 1,150 DH / Ql. Currently, it is around 1,640 DH / Ql.
