A number of local farmers in Jambi province in the Southern region of Sumatra are currently trying to develop a local variety of Guava called Jambu Kristal. Unlike the regular pink-flesh guava variety that can be found across Indonesia, Jambu Kristal has white-flesh and is seedless. This initiative was taken by the local farmers as a part of the effort to diversify the agricultural products from this province that have been dominated by palm fruit bunches, and also as a part to utilize around 50 hectares of the unused land across this province. As of today, there are over 5000 of guava trees have been planted, with the export is expected to happen before the end of November 2020.
