Nigeria is the leading producer of Yam tubers in West Africa. However, Ghana has become a country of choice for importers of Yam from West Africa as the government has signed the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA). The trade agreement with the EU makes it possible for Ghana yam exporters to export yams to Europe and the UK duty-free. Ghana currently accounts for over 90% of Yam exports in West Africa.
