The COVID-19 outbreak has caused some major uncertainties around the world and several countries in the world are undergoing food shortage problems.

However, Australia is one of the most food-secure nations in the world and is ranked in the top 10 for food affordability and availability, producing more food than it consumes and importing only 11% of food and beverages consumed in the nation. As a result, the pandemic is not causing food shortage problems or price hikes of essential food items. However, Australian food exporters have been adversely affected by the pandemic as they find it much harder to ship out their products.
