China has resumed imports from Vietnam, and thus, the demand and the price of Vietnamese dragon fruits are returning to their old levels. For example, the price of white dragon fruit has increased to 0.59 USD/kg. Despite the reopening of the Chinese market, Vietnamese dragon fruit producers still have to continue diversifying their market so they do not depend so heavily on the Chinese market. Dragon fruit producers have signed many contracts to supply goods to supermarkets to further develop sales networks in the domestic market. Furthermore, more dragon fruit producers are starting processing the fruit to produce juice, frozen or dried dragon fruit products to rely less on the versatile fresh fruit market. These products will be strongly consumed when China successfully controls the disease.
