Meat exports grew 17% in the first four months

Meat exports increased by 17% compared to the same period in 2019, totaling 249K tons according to the National Agri-Food Health and Quality Service (Senasa).
The increase in beef was 19.5%, growing from 144K tons between January and April 2019 to 172K tons in 2020. The main destinations were China (124.7K tons), followed by Chile (11.6K tons); Israel consumed 10.4K tons; and Germany, 6.3K tons.

Poultry meat exports stood at 70.2K tons between January and April, an increase of 6% over the 66K tons shipped in the first four months of 2019. The main destination markets were China (26.3K tons; South Africa, (6.5K tons); Chile (5.6K tons); United Arab Emirates (5.K tons) and Saudi Arabia, (4.6K tons).

Pork meat exports grew in the mentioned period 176% compared to 2019. Shipments totaled 6.6K tons in the first quarter, 4.2K tons more than in the first four months of last year. The main markets were China (4K tons); Russia (917 tons); Hong Kong (756 tons); Angola (387 tons); and Ivory Coast, (386 tons).
