China looking to import barley and blueberries from the United States

China will allow more barley and blueberry imports from the United States as part of the decision to increase agricultural imports from the United Staes by an additional 32 billion USD in the next 2 years.

The news is disappointing for grain explorers from Australia which exported several million tons of barley last year. On the other hand, the barley export volume of the United States was only 100 kmt. Chinese authorities have informed Australian exporters that they might impose an import tax as high as 80% on Australian grain exports.
