The corona virus pandemic has prevented farmers from commencing cultivation of cocoa bean in Nigeria. Over 350,000 cocoa seedlings grown are in the field ready to be distributed but the lock down has prevented farmers from moving to farm and commence farming activities. The COVID-19 pandemic is preventing cocoa farmers to produce at their optimal and there is skepticism that the stipulated production quantity of 325,000 metric tonne for 2020/2021 can not be met if cocoa farmers in Ondo state the main production hub for coaca bean in Nigeria do not begin production now.
