The government of Indonesia, through its National Foods and Drugs Administration Agency, has issued an instruction for all national importers of enoki mushrooms to recall their products from the national market following the finding of listeria contamination on the imported mushrooms. The first contamination was found in the USA in April 2020 and followed by Canada and Australia in May and June 2020 respectively. This decision was made as a precautionary measure to minimize the possibility of the same case in Indonesia. As a starter, the importers will destroy the stock of enoki mushroom on their warehouses and they will soon coordinate with modern retailers across the country to destroy their existing stock in their inventory, before moving on to the major traditional markets across Indonesia soon after, with the whole process is targeted to finish by the end of June 2020.
