Low on production, Malaysia imports tumeric

Malaysia imports turmeric and turmeric-based foods from abroad. Particularly the curry industry imports a lot of raw material from India. In Malaysia turmeric is only cultivated in several states such as Johor, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, and in Sabah but in very small quantities by small farmers.
