Taste of import watermelons from Iran and Yemen delights Turkish consumers

Watermelon harvest has started since early May in Turkey however some watermelon growers use hybrid watermelon - pumpkin seeds to move the harvest time to an earlier date so they can receive higher prices for their products. This creates a taste problem in the very early harvest watermelon in the country.

As a solution, some retailers are offering watermelons imported from Iran and Yemen which are rich in taste compared to those early watermelon - pumpkin hybrids. Retailers note that they receive positive feedback from their customers about the imported watermelons from Iran and Yemen.
