40% Production Loss Anticipated in the 2023 Lemon Season in Spain

The total lemon production in 2023 in Spain is approximately 40% less than in the previous campaign. Sales prices were expected to compensate for this loss of production and cover the increases in production costs, but it seems that will not be the case due to the current low demand in Primofiori and Verna. Primofiori was initially priced in the field at around USD 0.38–0.43/kg when the campaign started, but it is now USD 0.22/kg. As a result, this is the third season in a row that Spanish lemon growers have had a bad harvest.
