Avocado exports value from Guatemala remained stable during January 2022 compared to 2021.

During January 2022 avocado exports value was USD 1.66M, an increase of 3.54% compared to USD 1.61M in January 2021. Even though there was an increase in the total value of exports the price per kilogram decreased by 7% from USD 1.83/kg to USD 1.69/kg. Many avocado exporters have experienced a price decrease during the last months, mainly due to increasing supply from other producing countries in the European market, which is the most important export market for Guatemala. Some exporters are trying to reach new markets to get better prices, the US market is not possible due to restrictions but some exporters have found good opportunities in the Central America region and also in Asia with value added products. For 2022 exporters expect to increase their exports and get better prices in international markets.
