Bad Weather Hinders Farmers in the Voronezh Region of Russia From Both Harvesting and Sowing

Due to prolonged autumn rains, the fields in the Voronezh region of Russia turn into swamps. It is impossible to harvest as equipment gets stuck in waterlogged soil. As of October 18, only 8% of corn, 39% of sunflowers, 42% of sugar beets and 49% of soybeans were harvested in the region. Additionally, bad weather hampered not only harvesting but also the planting of new winter crops, as of W42, only 65% of the planned 790,000 hectares were sown in the region. Despite the bad weather, local farms have decided to continue sowing winter crops in the hope that the weather will allow at least sprouts to appear, while others have decided to stop sowing and increase the number of spring crops.
