The Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) announced today (28) that Mexico is going to start importing eggs produced in Brazil. The National Service for Health, Safety and Quality (Senasica) last week granted authorization to import processed products.

Mexico is the largest consumer per capita of eggs in the world, with a consumption of 378 units per year, according to ABPA data. In 2019, Mexico imported 20,000 tons of eggs, according to data from the National Poultry Union.

ABPA President Ricardo Santin said that opening the Mexican market to Brazil is strategic, not only because of the market's consumption potential, but also because of what the authorization represents in terms of health recognition and the quality of the Brazilian product.
