The Guardia Civil has detained four people and investigated 29 others in an operation against olive theft in the Seville countryside, in which 11,996 kilos of stolen product have been recovered. In a statement, the armed institute reported that, in addition, 24 inspections have been carried out to guarantee the traceability of the fruit in purchasing centers and farms, with various acts for infractions of the Food Traceability Law and for the transport of goods without the required Accompanying and Transport Document (DAT). These inspections have located and seized batches of olives lacking documentation of lawful origin, mainly focused on Arahal and several nearby towns. The main objective of the operation has been the investigation of thefts on agricultural farms, as well as the exhaustive control of the transport of the fruit and the regulation of purchasing centers and cooperatives.
