Since 2016, the Brazilian export of processed rice is recovering and has grown steadily. Peru, Venezuela, Chile, Guatemala, USA, and some African nations were among the most proeminent destinations.
Brazil reached 60 markets in 2017, 84 in 2018, and 96 in 2019. In 2017, the country exported 353,495 tons of processed rice. In 2018, it exported 483,891 tons. And in 2019, it exported 511,178 tons.
For 2020, the forecast is at least 17% increase compared to 2019. Some believe this might even surpass the alltime record from 2011. Until July, preliminary figures indicated that Brazil had reached 522,895 tons.
But the export activity is expected to decline from Sep onwards due to the off-season period and lower buffer stocks this year.
