Cargill has halted production at their Guelph, Ontario beef processing plant after over 80 people tested positive for COVID. The plant accounts for 70% of Eastern Canada's beef processing capacity and the idling of production is expected to cause supply chain pressure for producers across the region. The company has plans to process the remaining meat onhand at the plant in an effort to prevent food waste, but no date has been given for when full production will resume.
