Chilean cherries from the 2022 season started to arrive in the Brazilian market on W45 by air, and wholesale prices started around USD 56-66/ box of 5 kg on CAT 1 calibers Jumbo+. On W47, the truckloads hit the market, lowering wholesale prices. On W48, the wholesale prices are down to USD 18.89-28.34/box of 5kg on CAT1, calibers Jumbo+ as there is a prospect of more cherries hitting the market soon. Buyers report that Chilean cherry producers are using Brazilian cherries as a dumping product since the production of cherries in Chile has doubled. The Chinese New Year’s will be two weeks earlier than usual the period, giving Chile a shorter period to ship cherries to the Chinese Market. Buyers expect a crash in cherry prices that could be down to USD 9.45/box of 5kg after the Chinese market decreases its demand.
