The Indonesian clove wholesalers are starting to prepare to fulfill big purchases from the cigarette factories which are already preparing to stock up. The unique Indonesian cigarettes known as kretek are made with cloves as a raw material. The cloves harvest will start to decline from the end of February 2023. Therefore, the factory must stock up for their production until the next harvest season, which will begin in the second half of 2023. The cigarette industry is the biggest consumer of cloves in Indonesia. This situation will increase the prices from the farm-gate level.
