Major cocoa beans stakeholders are joining in the fight to make the Cameroon cocoa value chain more traceable and sustainable than ever before. From the 2022 cocoa season, besides its initial partner Cargill, Telcar Cocoa Ltd will also have to source certified traceable beans for Mars, Mondelez, Nestlé, and Unilever as well. For more than 5 seasons now, Telcar cocoa Ltd has been the major source and exporter of Cameroon cocoa with an averagely of 30% of the market share. This is the signal that whoever intends to source cocoa beans from Cameroon will have to display more resources and know-how to secure its direct link with farmers.

In 2012, Cargill started implementing its certification programs in Cameroon through TELCAR COCOA LTD, its local-based partner. Since then, many otherworldly cocoa giants, namely Barrycallebaut, and Olam, have also launched certification and traceability programs. With the growing concern of chocolate consumers who want to know more about where and the conditions in which the cocoa they are consuming was produced, more stakeholders are joining in the fight to make Cameroon's cocoa supply chain more sustainable and traceable than ever before.
