Turkish mushroom producers have been suffering from breakdowns in the cold chain which causes significant deterioration in the quality of the products. Mushroom is a very sensitive product with a very limited shelf life and cold-chain is of vital importance in order to minimize the waste for the retailers. However, the cold-chain is not protected as vigorously as it should be during the transport period and as a result, a significant amount of white mushrooms in Turkey have a shorter shelf life than their counterparts from abroad.
