An early cold snap in BC's Okanagan Valley could have a negative effect on the province's apple crop. Heavy snowfall and freezing weather in late October hit towards the end of the harvest season and will cause farmers to pick the remaining fruit faster. Though the full extent of the damage isn't known at this time, it is fortunate that the cold spell didn't happen earlier in October as a higher amount of the crop would not have met the requirements for the grades.
