Not too long ago (approximately about 5 years ago), Colombia’s Soursop production was about 20 to 30K tonnes. The destination was mainly domestic, consumed as fresh fruit, or sent for further processing.

Nowadays production is close to 50 to 60K tones which are more than what the country consumes. In this sense, producers seek to place that overstock, and exporting can be a great opportunity. A fact to be considered is that, as fresh fruit, Soursop can only be exported through air freight while refrigerated since there is not post-harvest treatment yet that can lengthen its shelf life.
