Unusual heavy rain over two consecutive days in Costa Rica at the end of Dec-23 has caused concern among coffee producers. The 2023/24 coffee harvest, accelerated by an early flowering in February and March, has shifted its peak from January and February to December and January. With most coffee cherries now fully ripe, the heavy rains pose a risk of beans falling to the ground. To mitigate this, producers are urgently hiring additional labor to ensure a successful harvest and prevent potential losses.
