Due to COVID, the demand for pork is growing. Pork has seen unprecedented prices here in Taiwan. Due to the concern of prices spiking, the government is shutting down all slaughterhouses for a day to ease prices. The closing of the slaughterhouse is done to ease panic purchases coming from the fear of shortage. This will provide buyers with the time to consider alternatives instead of purchasing pork due to fear.
