After finding a farm with animals infected with the H5N8 avian flu virus on Monday (16), the Danish authorities ordered the slaughter of 25,000 chickens, in addition to stopping egg and poultry exports to other neighbors for the next three months. No human contagion was recorded across Europe and the discovery was promptly reported to EU authorities.

The same case occurred with a turkey farm in northern Germany when the government ordered the slaughter of 16,100 animals contaminated with the same type of virus.
