Denmark’s Organic Agricultural Model Could Represent Export Opportunities for Costa Rica

Latin America owns 13% of the organic land in the world, which has allowed the region to increase its export participation to Denmark's market on a YoY average increase of 15% since 2016 up to date. In 2021, Costa Rica reached USD 4.9M of exports to this market with products such as bananas and canned fruits, starting to give opportunities to products such as coffee, pineapple, and cocoa since the Danish Government has an organic law, and it is actively inspecting and confirming the implementation of organic cultivation methods in Costa Rica that not only need to comply with the EU regulations but it needs to also comply with the Danish Certification that will allow more products to enter the market.
