In 2023, the effects of La Niña caused droughts in many countries of Latin America and affected fruit production areas. Chile, one of the main suppliers of apples to Brazil, forecasted a smaller crop of apples. Brazilian importers are concerned regarding the available volume of apples for the 2022/23 season and reported drought in 2023 caused by La Niña was one of the worst they have seen.
