Shrimp producer advised Tridge Operations today that costs of production in the shrimp farming feedstock is steadily increasing. Being soybean one of the main inputs for the vannamei shrimp cultivation, and having an uptrending price curve in the CBOT, effecting on spot delivery since December 1st. It rose 7.3% at the CBOT index for March-21 delivery. Due to that fact Farmers and exporters are progressively re-adjusting rates from 5¢/kg to 15¢/kg in dollar terms all across the board, almost at all sizes in the fourth week of 2021. Soybean meal stands for 30% average of its production cost and it takes an important role on the end-prices for the downstream.
From Jan. 25-31st, average farmgate prices for head-on, shell-on shrimps from Ecuador were $4.90/kg for 20/30 size; $3.90/kg for 30/40; $3.50/kg for 40/50; $3.20/kg for 50/60; $2.90/kg for 60/70; $2.60/kg for 70/80; and $2.30/kg for 80/100 and at last $2.20/kg for the 100/120.
