During the actual plantain high season, a 50 net weight pound box carries approximately 60 vigorous fingers of plantain. A dramatic change occurs during the low season which starts around mid-June when the temperature decreases and the harvested plantain fingers become smaller and lightweight. In this stage, the same 50-pound box holds approximately 80 fingers of plantains.
