Due to the red seedless grape shortage in Murcia, Spain. Egyptian producers are preparing containers to ship to the UK. August is the last month of the table grape harvest in Egypt, and typically a month where they export to South East Asia. However, upon successful completion of MRL testing, Egyptian Crimson seedless grapes are perfectly suited for the EU and UK markets. In week 31, the grapes show high caliber and deep red coloration. These shipments can be expected in the UK market by week 33. The only caveat is the 8% duty imposed on Egyptian red grapes for the month of August. This measure was taken in order to protect EU production. However, including the 8% duty, Egyptian red seedless grapes calculated for week 31 have very competitive prices compared to Spanish production.
