The minimum coffee price set by the Ethiopian government on a weekly basis has increased by 2% to 21% in W50. The significant increment ranging from 14–21% is observed in the specialty coffees of Grade 1, Grade 2 and Grade 3. Whereas, the commercial coffee types such as Grade 4 and Grade 5 have relatively shown a small increase ranging from 2–5%, which is actually a big change observed since W39. The price soared following New York’s Arabica coffee price rise at the beginning of Ethiopia’s new crop shipment period of specialty coffees.
