Tokyo has been actively implementing a series of promotional programs and feasibility studies on various frozen commodities like durian, jackfruit, sweet corn, pineapple MD2, mangosteen, rambutan, and dragon fruit since 2018. Commodities like Musang King (D197) durian and Honey Jackfruit (J33) received encouraging feedback with significant market potential in Japan.
Total export of frozen fruits to Japan was recorded at USD 22,000 (2017), USD 49,000 (2018), USD 91,000 (2019), USD 49,000 (2020), and it is expected to continue to surge with adaptation to the Covid-19 situation.
