Farmers in the West, Central & East Java regions have started planting the cantaloupe to prepare for Ramadan. Cantaloupe is a favorite fruit for the Muslim people in Indonesia during the fasting period of Ramadan. This year Ramadan will start from the 2nd week of April until mid-May 2021. However, traders are still uncertain about the market this year. Last year, the demand was below expectation, due to the lockdown activity in most of the cities in Java. Last year farmgate price is at the range of IDR 5,000-7,000 per Kg.
