Fruit exporters avoid road transportation due to drug trafficking

Brazil has recently obtained authorization from the Chilean government to export citrus. Tahiti lime is the product with the greatest export potential. Even so, some fruit exporters in Brazil are afraid to send cargo to the neighboring country. One reason is the risk of inland transport, with cases of drugs being deployed in containers on the rise. The MSC Group in Brazil published a note informing all its customers that it is withdrawing all its land operations (road and rail) from Brazil due to cases in which drugs have been placed in containers, and the company has been penalized. This increases, even more, the fear of sending cargo to Chile. The shipment of lemons from Brazil to Chile is practically nil.
