A shortage of RFO (Residual Fuel Oil) in the Ghanaian market affected a major cassava/tapioca starch supplier's ability to produce starch, as RFO is used for fueling industrial dryers in the drying of processed starch. This led to a backlog of export purchase orders which forced buyers to explore alternative markets outside of Ghana to meet the unexpected shortfall.
