Guatemala palm oil export value increased by 28% in January 2022 compared to the exact same period last year.

During January 2022 Guatemala palm oil export value was +USD 54M, an increase of 28.5% compared to +USD 42M in January 2021. Even though exported volume decreased by 8% during January 2022 the export prices increased by 40%. In February international palm oil prices reached record highs due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, affecting the largest exporter region of sunflower oil. The decrease in supply of sunflower oil is making many countries start importing higher volumes of palm oil. Guatemalan exporters expect to reach record export value during 2022 if prices continue high.
