Guatemalan watermelon wholesale prices increased by 12.5% during March 2022.

During March 2022 watermelon wholesale prices increased by 12.5% compared to last month. In February the price was at USD 1 per unit and went up to USD 1.17 per unit during March. Main reason for the increase was a shortage of volume in the main wholesale markets in Guatemala City, La Terminal and CENMA. During 2022 watermelon production is expected to increase but mainly for export markets, for local markets volumes are expected to maintain stability so if demand increases prices might keep rising.
