Increased Farm Gate Prices for Fresh Longan in Thailand in W49 Due to Low Supply and High Global Demand

In Thailand, the farm gate price of fresh longans increased from USD 0.81/kg (THB 28/kg) on November 24, 2022 (where the diameter was greater than 28 mm) to USD 0.92/kg (THB 32/kg) on December 4, 2022. This is a 14.3% increase which is a side effect of the limited volume of longan crops in cultivated areas and the high demand from markets such as China, Indonesia, and India. Each exporter needs to source as many as possible longan containers to serve their buyers at their destination. From this increase, fresh longan in plastic basket 11.5kg price is already USD 12.46 EXW packing house on 6 December 2022.
