Increasing Farm Gate Prices of Fresh Longan in Thailand Due to Low Supply and High Global Demand

Longan farm gate prices in Thailand increased from USD 0.92/kg (THB 32/kg) on December 6, 2022 (Longan diameter bigger than 28 mm) to USD 1.09/kg (THB 38/kg) on December 8, 2022. This increase of 18.75% is a side effect of limited longan crops in cultivated areas and large orders from China, Indonesia, and India that have to be exported before December 18, 2022, to arrive at their destination ports in W51 and W52 before New Year's long holiday. From this increase, the price of longan in plastic basket 11.5kg is already USD 15.16 EXW packing house on December 8, 2022.
