Indonesian Distributors and Retailers Started Buying Dates During W5, Preparing for Ramadan

In W5, Indonesian importers have started selling date fruits to distributors and retailers. Regular quality was traded at USD 14.2/10 kg per box to distributors, and premium quality was offered at USD 38.34/box (12x500gm/box). The peak demand for dates occurs in March during Ramadan, however, distributors need to secure prior stock. Most importers have secured contracts since mid-2022, with deliveries starting in December 2022. As a quota-free product, large quantities of dates are imported each year. In 2022, Indonesia imported 61.35K MT of fresh and dried dates from Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and several others.
