Iranian farmers practice Vannamei shrimp farming both in the southern fisheries ecosystem and the northern fisheries ecosystem. Shrimp farming in the north is done in the Caspian Sea which has colder waters and the shrimp quality is lower and whiter in color. Whereas, in the south, shrimp farming is done in the Persian Gulf waters where temperatures are high and weather conditions are more humid under a tropical climate. Therefore, the southern shrimp is of better quality compared to the one farmed in the north of the country.
