Iran has lifted 9-year restrictions on the import of Pakistani kinnow (mandarins) and the market will be open for the kinnow season of 2021-2022. Iran is expected to be the number one market again as a border-sharing country while trade with Russia, which was was the primary potential market for Pakistani Kinnow, has logistic challenges due to long distance. Iran has a potential market share for 80,000-90,000 MT of Pakistani kinnow, the biggest after Russia. The Middle East is also a big market but not for the best prices, chiefly due to the consignment business.
